Volunteer Requirements & Safe Environment
To help ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all, our parish follows the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee Safe Environment policies. These requirements are in place to protect children, vulnerable adults, and our entire community.If you are new to volunteering in the areas listed below or your requirements have expired, please complete the form below to contact the office.Who Needs to Complete Requirements?
Safe Environment requirements currently apply to volunteers who serve children, youth, or vulnerable adults. Examples include:
- Catechists
- Youth ministry volunteers
- Event volunteers assisting with youth activities, including kitchen or serving support
- Teen volunteers under 18 serving with children (such as Vacation Bible School/VBS) are required to complete VIRTUS training only.
- Homebound visitation
- Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the homebound
- Other outreach to vulnerable adults
If you are already approved at another parish, let us know where you are currently active—we will contact the neighboring parish to share your Safe Environment records with us.
Important: Volunteers must meet all Safe Environment requirements before volunteering.
Requirements
The following are required for the roles listed above:- Safe Environment Training (Online)
- Fingerprinting / Background Check
(Fingerprinting is available here at Christ Our Redeemer)
Additional trainings or documentation may be required based on the type of volunteer role or selections made in Virtus. -
